Christmas show and other things

Hello!

I have been super busy with Christmas shows and rehearsals, so I haven’t been updating here for a while.

I’ve had a great autumn! In October Åkervinda went to Toulouse and were treated like royalties! We went to a lovely festival called Voix Croisées. The crew hosted us, fed us with superb wine and cheese and the weather was just perfection, warm and sunny. I had packed away all my summer clothes and had to go up to the attic to bring them down again. We sang one concert and did a workshop and met amazing people, so France showed it’s best side.

From France I flew straight to Stockholm to perform with We Float at Stockholm Jazz Festival and P2 Jazzkatten. We had two great concerts and it’s always nice to visit Stockholm. I hadn’t time to really see anything this time, but we met some super nice new friends.

Just a couple of days after the Stockholm trip We Float had a concert at Malmö Jazzmanifest - a new jazz festival that was arranged for the second time. Samuel Hällkvist joined us as well and it’s just a dream to play with We Float as a quintet. Lovely lovely evening! Ola Elleström wrote a fantastic review afterwards, with this quote that I’ll cherish forever (freely translated): “An amazing singer who could reach incredible heights”.

Now we’re in the middle of a Christmas show, with just half of the shows left to play. The show has a rock theme this year, so I’m being challenged by Oasis, Queen, Alice Cooper etc. It’s so much fun, but I had a stressful time finding an outfit that was rocky but still felt like me. My backup vocal brother Alex borrowed me a hat and then everything just fell into place! Never been a hat person or a rock person, but now I feel pretty cool, a little like Janis Joplin :D

Other Christmas concerts this year! Touché is singing one concert the 20th of December at Betaniakyrkan in Malmö with a lot of Christmas repertoire. Åkervinda is having a concert the day after in Musikhuset Dexter in Odense, Denmark. Not sure how Christmassy it will be, but you never know :) After those concerts, I only have my regular job in Sundby kirke to worry about, and I also have some days off in the days surrounding Christmas. Jens has brewed his own Christmas beer, and Peggy has bought herself a Santa’s hat, so this Christmas will probable be the best one so far. I hope you’ll have a great time wherever you are and whatever you do.

Love, Linda
